Because God loves us, He does not want us to remain separated from Him. But because we are all sinners, we cannot pay for our own sin. It takes a perfect sacrifice to please God and we aren’t perfect. Religion, good deeds, even baptism cannot pay for our sin.

So God paid for our sins Himself. God came to earth as a man, Jesus. He came to suffer the punishment that you and I deserve.

Three days after dying on the cross, Jesus rose from the dead.

How Do We Know This?

“For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And the ransom He paid was not mere gold or silver. He paid for you with the precious lifeblood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God” – 1 Peter 1:18-19

“He was wounded and crushed for our sins. He was beaten that we might have peace. He was whipped, and we were healed! All of us have strayed away like sheep. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on him the guilt and sins of us all” – Isaiah 53:5-6
